Do you have gift cards?

Yes, our gift cards come in denominations of $25, $50, and $100. Available in-store or by clicking here.

Where can I park?

There is plenty of street parking surrounding the area, as well as private lots on Abbott at Pender, and Abbott at Hastings. All spots are paid parking, and the private lots are credit card only. Don’t have change for street parking? Just pop in and we’ll break those bills for you.

Do you have online booking?

Yes we do!  Please click any of the Book Now buttons on our website or click here.

How far ahead should I book my appointment?

We’ll take appointments as long as there is availability. If you have a specific date or event in mind, we recommend giving us at least 7-days notice. If youre flexible, as we try to be, well do our best to accommodate you.

What about cancellations? Lateness?

Please notify us of any cancellations 24 hours prior to your appointment. Cancellations within 24 hours of your appointment will be charged half the value of your pre-booked services.

In cases of lateness, appointments will be held for 15 minutes- unless otherwise notified- and will then be passed on to walk-in clients.

Do you take walk-in clients last minute?

We totally understand the need for spur-of-the moment pampering sessions, so we always try to accommodate for quick lunch-time manis/pedis or emergency broken-nail fixes. As long as we’re not in the middle of a service, we’ll do our best to take you in!

Do you have a return policy?

We do not offer refunds on services rendered, but we’d be happy to work with you and resolve any problems if necessary.
Retail products will be accepted for refund or exchange within 7 days of the date of purchase. Must be unused and in the original packaging.
Gift cards are final sale.

Why do we ask for clients to leave their credit card info on file or take a cash deposit in order to confirm an appointment?
We require 24 hour notice for any appointment cancellations. Any late cancellations or no- shows will be charged 50% of the booked service price. We value your time as well as our own and when a client doesn’t show up or makes a late cancellation, it takes a spot away from someone else and wastes our staff’s time and pay. We do allow a 15 min grace period for late arrivals, as our team may be running behind as well. Sometimes it’s out of our control and we totally get it.

Why do we do waterless manicures?
When we immerse our nails in water, the nail plate temporarily expands and it takes 24 hours for it to return to its natural state. After you have applied the polish to the expanded nails, when the nails reduce back to their normal size, the polish will react by chipping. Another positive to dry manicures is similar to our nail plates; when soaked in water, our skin puffs up and tends to hide dry skin and imperfections where we can`t see and fix them. A dry manicure is the simple answer to the healthiest nails and the longest lasting polish.

Why do we believe in such a strict sterilization protocol at Onyx?
Cleanliness is our number 1 priority. We want our clients to be comfortable and at ease with every service they receive. We are also our very own clients, meaning we enjoy getting all of our beauty services right here in the salon. With our medical aesthetics background, we pride ourselves in taking thorough steps to keep our studio in impeccable cleanliness. We surpassed health Canada`s standards by using a medical grade autoclave to sterilize the equipment and use nothing lower than 99% Alcohol. Most of our supplies are one-time use and we are continuously cleaning throughout the day and in between clients.

Will Shellac polish harm my nails?
No! It’s a huge misconception that Shellac polish will harm your natural nails. This misconception results from salons using improper products and techniques. Shellac should never harm your natural nails. With proper application and removal, your nails should remain in the same condition you started with. Some clients may notice white patches on their nails occasionally; this is due to dryness. To combat this, regularly apply a cuticle oil. We recommend CND SolarOil. This is a great practice to maintain healthy flexible nails all year round!

What is nail art?
Art is considered anything applied to the nails other than two full coats of colour. Whether you like foil, stripping tape, glitter, gems, hand-painted art or whatever your heart desires we can do almost anything! We love getting nail art and having funky nails ourselves so if you ever need any inspiration, check out our staff’s nails! Nail art is an extra charge so inquire with out staff regarding cost. We order our products from all over the world and focus on staying updated in the world of beauty.
